Pontiac has largely been credited with the advent of the pony car since, some 40 years ago, they stuffed a Tri-Power 389 cubic inch V8 into a Tempest LeMans and called it the GTO. The GTO nameplate took a sabbatical for years and now is back with a bang. The lessons BORLA learns from racing -- make it light, make it last and make it perform -- are the precepts BORLA R&D engineers used to create a true full dual exhaust for the GTO (Part #140101) that is over 10% lighter than the single exit factory unit and uses 2-¼” T-304 stainless steel tubing and race inspired full T-304 stainless steel BORLA mufflers. A trim of the shotgun side rear valence is required to accommodate the additional tailpipe, accomplished in a few minutes with the use of the template provided by BORLA in the installation kit. With a stock engine, an exciting 19% increase in flow is realized; the dramatic improvements of the BORLA system guarantee that additional modifications to the engine (i.e., air cleaner, throttle body, ECU) will yield subsequent power increases. Of special note, the 4-speed automatic GTO is the only American car with the gas-guzzler tag.
