History: Derek Burseth is one of the up and coming young guns in the world or racing. For the last two years he has been racing in the super competitive Formula BMW USA Championship. Despite having only one season of experience under his belt before starting the Formula BMW USA 2004 Championship, Derek has managed to stay competitive in the high stakes environment of professional open wheel racing, making many of the racing elite take notice.

Derek has made the move from open wheel racing to the SCCA Pro Racing Speed World Challenge GT Championship because it is the most competitive road racing employing a standing start. Derek will be driving “98” Dodge Viper Competition Coupe. Dodge Motorsports has developed the champion - winning Viper that will allow our team an excellent chance to show well in our 1st year of competition in the series.

Derek has an infinite understanding of business which is important with racing which is one of the most dynamic advertising markets in the world. Derek says, “I understand the business side of racing. I find out what the sponsors want and give them more for their dollars.”

Derek is a personality that attract fans and serves the community. Derek is just as impressive outside the car. He has worked with Children Memorial Hospital and speaks to many Scouts, school and church groups. His personality is perfect for dealing with the media, sponsor’s guest and fans.

Derek is an athlete. Derek works out everyday for strength/endurance and works with a trainer. “You must be an athlete in top physical condition to withstand the tremendous strains put on the body throughout a race.” says Derek.
